Preliminary Task

During the preliminary task we learnt, that you need to plan carefully, what shots are relavant and acceptable for you're genre. Getting a camera and going straight into filimg isn't productive as you need to be aware of what you're filiming. To do this appropiately we created a storyboard and a drew up a description plan which explains what each shot is about.

A strength of our task  was the editing as well as camera shots, because we managed to switch the camera smoothly and effectively.  To improve i think we could have used more/different camera shots to add more emphasis to the script.

Roles of my Team.

There is a diverse range of jobs throughout the media industry, especially in our film production.  A specific role has been assigned to my group. 

Producer - Rasses will act as the production manager, she will creates the conditions for making movies. The producer initiates, coordinates, supervises, and controls matters such as raising funding, hiring key people, and arranging for distributors. Her decisions are vital in order for the process to run smoothly and the producer is involved throughout all phases of the film-making process from development to the our final opening. 

The Director - Sharnette is responsible for overseeing the creative aspects of our opening such as  controlling the content and the flow of the film's plot, directing the performances of actors, organizing and selecting the locations in which the film opening will be shot, and managing technical details such as the positioning of cameras, the use of lighting, and the timing and content of the film's soundtrack. 

Editing and Camera Director - Once the opening has been shot, I will make the choice of cutting and editing various scenes in order for it to flow efficiently. I make the decision of using certain tracks and where they will fit in order to connote comedy. I determine the positioning and framing of actors and apply lighting, natural and technical in order to highlight aspects of comedy. I will take charge of the angles and shots used and participate in conducting a respected comedic opening. 

Production notes.

During our thorough week of production we used our credit timeline as a guide to what we should film, as well as our storyboard. 
This was very helpful and effective as we got to as far as when the character has finished her transformation We took numerous shots of each part, each was different or contained an error - we did this so we could choose the best shot out of the ones we took and when it came to editing we would decide which shot or part would come together with our story line and conform to our comedic conventions.

Mini Evaluation of Preliminary Task

After being set our preliminary task, we discussed a couple of different ideas in our group and after having a quick research on a few camera shots and what they're used for, we settled on shooting 15 to 20 second opening, between two people who are having an edgy conversation. We played around with the shots we recently discovered, the idea being that we would build up suspense and tension and the audience would acquire interest. Soon we started setting up on our shot sequences we wanted and the types of shots used to display the sense of tension and the narrative we wanted to give across to the audience. I think we did well in really thinking and planning the type shots we were going to use. For example we used the “over the shoulder” shot. This shot helps to establish the position of each person, and get the feel of looking at one person from the other's point of view and this is essential for when conversations are applied in the opening as they display alternating the view between the different speakers. We also attempted cross cutting shots, which is technique of alternating two or more scenes that often happen simultaneously but in different locations, at the end of our opening. Lastly we also thought about the kind of angles we would be using. We took into consideration and used the ‘eye level shot’ which enables the It is the "usual" or standard camera level of someone who is shooting while standing up. This angle is the most ‘realistic’ and it’s what we all are used to seeing, it creates a neutral emotion. As expected our planning and research process was limited and ,we didn't create a shooting script let alone dialogue script or even the location recce. To expand and create a better opening, we will take all of these into account to create a more defined and detailed piece. This task was beneficial as we now know each other;s strengths and weakness and are able to work around them for our final piece.
